Twin Lakes Brewery
An American Farm Brewery
Putting the Green in Greenville
GREENVILLE, Delaware: The brewery is going "green". New solar enery panels were recently installed at the Twin Lakes American Farm Brewery in Greenville, DE. The 2-kilowatt system is just the start. Plans include making the entire brewery completely energy independent in the near future.
"At its current size, the power generated by the solar panels will be about 5 to 7 amps," says William Rawheiser of Wise Power Systems of Wilmington, DE, who worked with R. Brown electric on the installation of the panels this February. However the cables laid in the ground running to the panels are capable of handling much more leaving the door open for expansion. The whole system is truly 21st century -- power output can be constantly monitored from anyplace on earth via the Internet.
"I was just in Las Vegas the other day and I could tell it was sunny in Delaware because of all the power we were generating," explains Rawheiser of the new panels. Using a website called FatSpaniel.com and a special user ID, brewery owners can get real-time information on how well their new system is working.
Matt Day, Marketing & Sales Director at Twin Lakes, explained that soon there would be a small hydroelectric generator running in the upper of the two lakes and more solar panels will be going in, "We're proud that Route 52 is the first scenic byway in the State of Delaware and we want to protect the heritage and environment here," said Day
.
